| Heart on Fire | | 18/08/2011 - After a slight detour to the wrong location, we found our way to Wednesday’s Hearts on Fire session. (Anyone who is planning to attend the remaining Hearts on Fire sessions, please be aware that it is not taking place in the main arena of the Palacio de los Deportes, but in what is actually the venue’s green room – ask someone for directions when you’re inside if you’re not sure!). | | | The US Jesuits involved with the Apostleship of Prayer introduced their audience to the idea of offering our lives to God and thanking him, every day | With a combination of talks, music and a brief Q&A session, the US Jesuits involved with the Apostleship of Prayer introduced their audience to the idea of offering our lives to God and thanking him, every day. The Ignatian character of what they were discussing was brought out explicitly – if we are looking for ways to help us live out, on a daily basis, the consecration of our lives to Christ in the Eucharist, then “the Spiritual Exercises give us a way of approaching the world with the eyes of our heart”. A mention of our weekend in Loyola pleased the MAGIS pilgrims in the room and led to a discussion of Ignatius’ Meditation on the Two Standards, helping us to reflect on how we might be drawn in different directions in our lives. The afternoon closed with a short examen and an encouragement to continue this practice each evening.
The Apostleship of Prayer encourages us to pray for the Pope’s intentions and as we prepare to welcome Pope Benedict to Madrid, you can find out more about these intentions through their website or at the remaining Hearts on Fire sessions (which will each be different):
